A few ideas...

Last week I had the pleasure of creating baby shower favors for a friend of the family. It was a fun design and something different than I have done in the past.

The above photo shows the size difference between our regular cookie favors and the new mini designs. The favors on the right were for the shower. Bright colors for the striped onesie and an A for the mom-to-be's last name. I made a few matching regular onesie cookies for mom-to-be.

The photo above shows a few different ways to package the mini favors. I had some extra cookie dough and thought I would make a few mini rounds using a mixture of the two colors, yellow and lime green, to make a marble design. Two rounds and a mini onesie decorated cookie, three rounds, or five rounds. Using plain rounds along with a decorated cookie, mini or regular, is a great way to put together favors on a budget. Using the plain rounds gives a modern feel to the favors as well.

The above photo shows how just a few cookies can be packaged for a gift. Three regular onesie cookies packaged in a fabric-lined wicker basket (two gifts in one!).

So whatever your budget, we can create favors to fit your event.

Holidays

I can't believe it. Christmas is almost here! Thank you to everyone who took advantage of our email newsletter special. I can't wait to bake and decorate your holiday cookies! We are just about booked for Christmas, but can take on a few more orders, so get your's in today! Oh, and if you don't get our newsletter, sign up on our home page at www.SugarHouseCookies.com so that you will know about our next special!

For those that are baking this holiday season, or any time really, I wanted to share a cake recipe that I used before I switched to scratch. This is a perfectly delicious cake, moist and more dense than a box cake.

Prepare cake mix per package directions and then add:
1 egg
1 cup flour
1 cup white sugar
8 oz. sour cream
1/3 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla

Bake per package directions.

It's as easy as that! It gives you a bit more batter and the sour cream adds moistness, but not really any flavor, so don't worry if you aren't a big fan of sour cream. You can also add in your favorite holiday spices (cinnamon, pumpkin pie spice, etc.) to give it a more holiday feel.

Take care everyone...Happy Holidays...and happy baking!

New cookies!

I can't believe it's November already! The holidays are upon us...and on my car yesterday I saw...oh yes, it's coming....snow!

We will be offering a smaller version of some of our most popular designs soon. Round or square, we're not sure yet, but they will be just as yummy as their large version. We know that large favor cookies are sometimes too much for your needs, so our 2" decorated version should fit the bill for a nice treat. We'll let you know when they are ready to be enjoyed!

Edible Images and Local Vendors

In the past few months we have come to know Stephanie and Stacy from Paper Persuasions here in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. They are holding the grand opening of their new retail location this weekend, October 11 and 12, so hop on over to Graham Road and 8th Street if you are in the area! We were excited to create edible image cookies with their new name and logo for their friends and family grand opening last month. Give them a call if you are looking for something different when it comes to your wedding invitations. Their custom work is absolutely beautiful!

We found a lovely local vendor to help us create edible images for our cookies! A special photo of the birthday person, a greeting, or your business logo would look great on our sugar cookies. A great way to personalize an event and also advertise your business. Visit us for more information on how to make them yours!

What else are we working on? A creative way to have your cake...and a cookie too! And we are also finalizing our shipping options so that those of you in Ohio can send a holiday gift of cookies to anyone in the U.S.
